The part that initiated the light bulb on top my head to start a self assessment & reflection....

Quote

in spore, most pple think...
Good Academics => Good Job => Good Prospects => Good Pay => Good Future.

in actual fact...
Good Academics => Good Foundation.
Good Foundation + Hard Work => Good Pay
Advanced Knowledge + Harder Work => Good Future.

'Good Job' is missing cos it's a myth. the subconscious use of the term 'Good Job' has to do with lazy pple defining jobs they dun deserve but yet can land.

------------------------------------------------------------

this may sound abit 'uncle', but during my time i was always the 1st and last in the office, i stay to listen, observe and learn things that are beyond my scope. i NEVER expected any rewards from the company, cos i knew that the biggest beneficiary of these effort is none other than Myself. let's face it - nobody owes us a good future more than ourselves.

my security comes from Self, not company... my rewards come from Self, not company...
i had 6 bosses, i was either verbally abused, treated like an army recruit or totally invisible to them. BUT fact remains that i wanted to earn the money they earn, drive the cars they drive, live in the houses they live in. MY WANTS brought me there, MY WANTS make me learn, MY WANTS make me persevere, MY WANTS kept me going. what's your wants?

------------------------------------------------------------

it does not matter if u Know u're good... but if u think u're good yet u dun have the guts to walk out, then obviously - u're not as certain of how good u really are.

as u said "vacancy & performance"... IF u're good - vacancy is created for u. If u're good - pple will pay to headhunt and tie u down to Long contracts before u even perform. If u're good, u would want short contracts, not perm positions... becos it'll always leave your options open, and headhunters are just counting down towards the end of your contract... in the final 3mths, u will start getting calls...

unfortunately, many like yourself and others... are living in a world where u've been conditioned to Wait or Hope for vacancies, but do not know how to create your own chances. many perform to the mark and expect rewards, when this world - u are rewarded for performing BEYOND wat's expected. if your boss dun go "wow", why should u be wowed by the company???

Met up with the weekenders kakee(s) for dinner and movie yesterday night.. Since it was a belated celebration for Cindy's Birthday, we didn’t stay in for mahjiong this time; we went for a movie and to Fish and Co. for dinner! It's hard to decide on which movie to watch because all of us are quite a movie go-er; hence I didn't get my choice of films because the others have already watched it and vice versa. In the end, we all decided on "State of Play". We didn't know what movie it is but proceeded to try our luck... haha!

Dinner was good, maybe because we made the right choices of 3 side dishes to share... Mushroom Salad (我们是菇人), Mussels in Lemon & Butter Sauce (the sauce is so damn finger licking good) and Grilled Calamari... One word: SHIOK! We had our own main dish and were all very satisfied with the dinner. We walked back to Plaza Sing from Park Mall with a lighted cigarette to aid in digestion. lolx.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the bouquet of flowers that Adrian hand-made for Cindy is super nice! A pity that I cannot upload and post the pictures now because I didn’t have my camera with me in the office now… =X

Back to the topic of movie, one word: Good. I was so attracted to Ben Affleck and dear kept whispering to me that Russell Crowe is so macho! ~,~
A very good suspense thriller with a clever twist to the ending! Worth a catch.

大姑 was back from Hongkong last week and we had a little gathering at Sin Ming’s beer garden last Friday. As usual, had our normal doze of beer, food, laughter and ‘suan-ing(s)’. haha! When it was time to part, we didn’t feel like it, so we all planned to have another gathering last Monday. 大姑 wanted BBQ, but we all rejected citing reasons that it has been a decade since we go KTV together. So, we had our once in a decade KTV gathering at Yishun Safra’s Party World. It was a total different experience to go KTV with a bunch of relatives as compared to a bunch of friends who are kala fanatics!

Snacks and a bottle of Gordon Blue were smuggled in and we 干掉 the snacks within minutes! The liquor was the best special drink of the night. A night of oldies and only a short session of mando-pop was permitted. The most memorable part was when Ivy (my sister) sang a few boring songs and ¾ of the room went out of the room for a smoke break once she started singing. Hahaha!
