Last few days, while colleagues and I were emailing (alternative of MSN in office) we touched on the topic of Shark fining. Ever since I watched the documentary on how the thousand year old Asian Delicacy; Shark’s Fin comes about, I am determined to stop eating it and help to increase awareness on shark fining. No Demand = No Supply.

Sharks are often caught for fun (esp. to boost a macho man's ego) and then battered to death.

Often, still alive, their fins are cut off and the torso is thrown overbord to die in agony.

The rest of the shark is just thrown away.
Sometimes ending up on the dump!

It is such a cruel thing! People always have the mindset that Sharks are man eater and blah blah blah… All thanks to the movies, Jaws and such. Research has shown that sharks DO NOT feed on human, in fact they dislike the taste of human flesh.
Sharks attack human when they feel threatened or are provoked, just like human.
Argh~ I feel so sad for the sharks.....
If you are free, you wana watch Sharkwater and then you might understand how i am feeling.

This is my favourite species of shark: Whale Shark.
Some details of it extracted from Wikipedia.
It can grow up to 12.2 m. (40 ft.) in length and can weigh up to 13.6 tonnes (15 short tons). The species is believed to have originated about 60 million years ago.

The whale shark is a filter feeder — one of only three known filter feeding shark species (along with the basking shark and the megamouth shark). It feeds on phytoplankton, macro-algae, plankton, krill and small nektonic life, such as small squid or vertebrates.
So cute! Looking forward to a day when i can swim along with it.

This morning, my buddy CC told me that she is accepted by the HR dept for the regional training program in Bangkok from 12-15 Oct. This is great news as there are only 9 seats left for grabs in the co. I congratulated her, but felt upset somewhere in my heart.

I checked with her on the training program and went on to the intranet to check on the criteria. I was wondering why I wasn’t nominated by my boss as he is usually supportive of me going for such training programs. Then the criteria shown on the training calendar gave me the answer. Criteria: Employees of Grade 2-5 only.

-_-“ I am still at grade 1 only… duh!

Anyway, HR is changing the grading system and readjusting the structure in the company.
Hopefully, it will be fairer and close up grading gaps between the expats and local employees.

I should be getting the letter informing me of my bonus payout by today.
*fingers crossed*

Pray pray pray!!!

Tick tock tick tock...
Counting down to the seconds to knock off..

As i had some spare time last few days, i did a 'handbook' for our (me and colleagues) diving trip to Bali in 2weeks time. My god, i am so so so so so looking forward to it. Already in holiday mood.

4days diving trip, one SPA session + one and a half day tour in Bali. Shiok!
haha!

The next thing i am looking forward to is my bonus!!!
Although its gonna be pro-rated as i joined the company in the middle of fiscal year in 2007, but its gonna be cool as its my first time receiving a 'real' bonus.. keke...

Sweet! Time to pack up.

Went for a gathering with ex-poly mates to celebrate Nat’s birthday yesterday night. It was fun and full of laughter as usual. After the cake cutting, we presented the birthday present (a handmade scrapbook by Shuzie and peeps) to her and she was so happy to receive it. The scrapbook contained memories during our poly days and also the pictures of each outing after we graduated. Beautiful book.

We reminisced the fun-filled poly days and recalled the tears, quarrels and countless laughter we shared. Days wouldn’t be enjoyable and easy going without their presence. We’re always there for once another and never fails to cheer each another up. Now that we are all contributing to the economy and started our working life, it is another phase of life we are going through.

Lynette has been flying with SQ for 2.5yrs, Ej just started her flying career with SQ too.
Ting just started work after graduating and Shuzie just ORD-ed a few days ago.
Renbing just went into NS and Douglas is still as rich as before. Haha!
Yannie is hard to meet up as usual and as for me, has been working for 1year already.
Counting down to my bonus! Hee hee…

Oh ya.. I got a belated birthday present from them as well.. a Longchamp bag…
I love it so much… I had been receiving bags as birthday present from them yearly.. haha..
Am becoming a bag collector nowadays… -_-“
Sianz.. no photoshop in office and i cannot install it due to company's policy...
Shall make time to photoshop all my pictures nicely.. i am becoming lazier and lazier lately... =P
